The models in action: Commercials and promotional videos!

Every toyline worth its salt will have TV commercials, and Zoids is no exception. Some of the Japanese ones work their way onto DVDs...and I can't help but want to share the more interesting ones. If you have Zoids commercials from any line (and permission to share, if they're someone else's encode) you'd like to see shown here, let me know.

I've been experimenting with Handbrake, which means the tasty goodness that is H.264. Please right click and save-as, as I hear tell some browser plugins fail epically trying to stream these. Other problems playing?

Zoids Perfect Visual Clips

Also known as "that DVD included with the Core Box". Uploading an entire DVD would make me a very bad little fansite, so here's a selection. The full thing has a few more ads, copies of Zoids World and Zoids Battle Video, and a brief "making of" section.

Mechanical Living Beasts: ZOIDS! Where it all began. The ripcord critters seen at the end are Starriors - or, if you prefer, the predecessors to Gravity Zoids.

Sabre Tiger Its leg can fly. Look out for the high-speed mecha, Republic Zoids!

Ultra Saurus The original super-giant Zoid makes its appearance, scaring a Sabre Tiger enough to make it walk in reverse.

Wardick and Dimetrodon What could be better than dramatic 80s-style narration about the Empire's return to the Central Continent? Adding in a Zoid named Wardick, that's what.

Shield Liger and Command Wolf Featuring some very 80s music by CHIKA. This was released as a single, but on record only...anyone got a copy?

Death Saurer The glowy CPC effect reminds me of Xanadu, completely destroying my ability to take this ad seriously. Mad Thunder/Death Saurer danceoff, y/n?

Other

Rayse Tiger promotional video Included with Rayse Tiger on an all-region NTSC DVD, this has some decent CGI shots of it and Whitz versus Dekalt. There's also a longer clip showing some stats, but I'm not wasting my processor on that XD.

Brastle Tiger promotional video Same idea as the Rayse video, except this time they get an annoying narrator to talk over it. Also features Jet Rayse Tiger.

H.264? What? Why won't this play/import into Movie Maker?

Long story short, H.264 is a shiny standard for compressing video. It's a lot nicer than Xvid/DivX, but it'll give old computers trouble and isn't as widely supported yet. I think the space saved and quality is worth the drawbacks, which is why I'm willing to fight with encode rates of 1-2 frames per second.

- Getting audio only and don't want to play around with codecs? Use VLC Media Player.

- If you experience skipping/lagging and have a rather old computer, it might be your processor speed (read, you're doomed and I'm sorry D:). These aren't particularly brutal, mind, so you may also want to try VLC, check if you've installed any weird codec packs, etc.

- I've had issues getting Windows Movie Maker to import H.264 anything. You might have to convert, I dunno. You'd be better off asking the internets/Google than me, because I just encode separate Xvid stuff for my AMV footage.
