Leoblaze breeding

How does one cross Zoids if they don't...well, cross? Simple: mad experiments involving the cores! Only the finest of occupations for a scientist out of work after their country collapsed and they had to flee to another continent...

This isn't meant to be serious (it's based off how models were sold, what do you expect?) and my genetics knowledge is rusty. BUT IT WAS FUN.

Blade Ligers (in order of dominance by color)

B-: Blue Blade Liger-the variant we all know and love. It shows a curious amount of variations, perhaps because it causes many of the oddball genes detailed below to be expressed.

BiBi, BiMi, BiR/r, BiW: Black Impact. A recent introduction to the Blade Liger world that went rapidly from rare to common due to its relative dominance, some say the BI is responsible for the introduction of the shiny gene into the Bladey end of the gene pool-yet this can't be true, as the rare chrome expression of it has been seen previously. It seems to be the only color capable of showing it, which is likely the reason it gets the credit.

MiMi, MiR/r, MiW: Minty Liger, aka Night Fight. One of the oddest forms of Blade Liger. Minty has yet to be observed with anything but plastic feet, leading many to suspect that it's unaffected by the plastic modifier and that its plastic feet are caused by genes tied to the color itself, possibly the same that make its claws a pale beige. Still, a few wild examples of crosses with metal feet have been observed-possibly plpl crosses where these unknown gene(s) mutated to not override the metal as normal. May also be responsible for the Genius Wolf mutation.

RR, Rr, rr, R/rW: Red Blade Liger. RR was the original form of the gene, but the color is diluted somewhat by the mutant r form of the Hasbro Blade Liger, which produces a slightly more pink color. Rr crosses may account for the effect of looking alternately red, pink, and coral people credit the Red Blade Liger with, as well as the darker tailfin.

WW: White Blade Liger, aka "mirage". Pure white main color, as opposed to the off-white Wz of the Zero. When in combination with pp (see below), causes the darker legs and pink markings of the Canon Special.

Funky Variants

Claw colors: BrBr or Brbr is brighter gold claws, brbr is the duller gold. Duller gold seems to require the blue color present to be expressed, though further research on red Ligers may be needed.

Plastic modifier: Rumored to be introduced into the gene pool with the Hasbro Blade Liger, PlPl causes Blade Ligers to have plastic claws over metal (plpl). Plpl seems to not always affect the blue color, making it hard to judge what type of feet you'll get. White and BI also entirely repress the plastic foot gene, and the Minty Liger's plastic feet seem to be caused by a different gene or genes.

Cockpit glass modifier: While other colors of Blade Liger seem to have a set cockpit color tied to them, when combined with the blue variant, this is said to produce the varying shades of near-yellow (oror), yellow-orange (Oror), and pure orange (OrOr) observed.

Painted bits gene (pnt): Recessive and expressed only on blues, this is responsible for the differing ankle bits that are naturally blue and then turn white. May be required for the tailfin recessive (fn) causing it to stay grey to be expressed.

Translucent patching: Produces Ligers with curious clear yellow-orange parts. TpTp makes a near half yellow liger, Tptp half that again, tptp plain. Rarely seen, perhaps because it looks so garish that other Blade Ligers tend to turn on their translucent friends.

Zeros (in order of dominance by color)

Wz-: White Zero. Off-white. Everybody knows this one.

EmEm, EmBl: Empire Liger Zero. One of the only Zero varieties to always be metal flake, the degree of its sparkle seems tied to the shiny gene. It also represses the Phoenix and Falcon modifiers.

BlBl: Blue "Phoenix Zero". First appeared as a Liger Zero Phoenix and is still rare outside of that combination, likely due to the overwhelming amount of white and Empire Zeros, both of which are dominant over its colors.

Liger Zero Phoenix

phph: A white Zero's natural face markings are repressed, and the red Phoenix bits are metal flake and the yellow clear (unrelated to the translucent patching gene of the Blade Liger). The Blue Zero's markings are unaffected, but the Phoenix will be matching blue.

Phph: The Phoenix effect still shows on blue Zeros, but will not show on white ones unless they're carrying the Hasbro modifier. The reasons for this difference over the Falcon modifier is currently unknown, though there are whispers of marketing reasons. This is generally regarded as a ridiculous hypothesis among the scientific community.

PhPh: No Phoenix.

The Phoenix gene does not affect Empire Zeros. Some examples with Hasbro variant colors have been seen in the wild-this may be because the Phoenix itself can split off and stick on other Zeros if it's feeling tetchy. They usually do not live long, as they clash horribly and other Zeros will attack them (much like the translucent patched Blade Liger).

Liger Zero Falcon

(loses out to Phoenix. Phph white Zeros without the Hasbro modifier will still not show Falcon characteristics-you need PhPh, period.)

fafa: As with a pure Phoenix, the white Zero's natural face markings are repressed. The resulting Falcon will be metallic colors, and the Zero's armor may become slightly shiny as well.

Fafa: The Zero's face markings are not repressed, and the Falcon itself is in duller colors more suiting the white or blue Zero.

FaFa: No Falcon.

The Falcon gene is similar to the Phoenix gene in that it doesn't affect Empire Zeros.

Funky Variants

Hasbro Modifier: HpHp or Hphp will cause the red Phoenix to appear pink and its yellow bits solid, and the Jet Falcon to be brighter while losing its metal flake (if it had it to begin with). It also forces the expression of the Bloxy bits on heterozygous Phoenixes. It has absolutely no effect on other forms of Zero, despite rumors to the contrary.

hzhz: "Hasbro Schneider". Affects white Zeros only, producing a slightly darker off-white with a distinctive sparkle, especially on side markings. This variety is seen as a curiosity by most.

soso: "Souga" blue modifier, which makes for an icy white-blue and causes the Zero's caps to turn green. Relatively unstudied, though it seems to affect the white and blue Zeros only. Its effect on the Phoenix and Jet Falcon modifiers is currently unknown.

Other

Shiny: Affects the degree of sparkle in the metal flake of Black Impact, Empire Liger Zero and Liger Zero Phoenix, with SS being very sparkley, Ss medium, ss not very. Is also responsible for the expression of the rare chrome colors.

cc chrome modifier: Recessive, crazily rare, and acts only if a Zoid is fully shiny (SS). Causes the entire Zoid to have a chrome-style finish with Blade Ligers, and the white to become silver on Zeros. Cc on some non-base Zeros has also been shown to produce chrome CAS armor but not silver on the Zero itself-the cause of the partial expression is as yet unknown. Some colors are said to repress its influence entirely, as there are no reported cases of them in chrome-though this could be due to the gene's extreme rarity.

pp: "pink" gene: This is the cause of the Canon Mirage. Note that the lighter red of the Hasbro Red Blade Liger is NOT caused by pp-this is a different mutation. Seems to not affect Zeros, though it may be cause for variations in red with the Hasbro Liger Zero Phoenix and in the Empire Liger Zero.

Resulting effects on Leoblazes

(yes, I'm still working out how the frell this bit works)

Red Leoblaze
EmB, EmBi, EmMi, EmR, Emr, EmW, WzR, Wzr, Blr
The reason for red to pass over from Blade Liger over the Zero's white is unknown, but it adds further to the large population of red Leoblazes. Shiny red Leoblaze tend to also have darker, sparklier legs and feet.

Dark Red "Matrix Dragon" Leoblaze
BlR

Blue "Matrix Dragon" Leoblaze
WzB, BlB

White Leoblaze
WzW, BlW, PP or Pp (see Infinity Leo)
Shows the snowy white of the Mirage. Somewhat rare due to the negative effects the pink gene has on WWz Leoblazes.

Black Leoblaze (aka "SAL")
WzBi, BlBi
Seems to repress the shiny gene, as the only examples shown are always matte. The source of this is unknown, but may be related to the Black Impact's only faint variations in shiny turning into only faint variations of matte. Some have suggested it's just because it looks cool and stealthy, but scientists threw rocks at them.

Gold Leoblaze
The chrome modifier in any form (cc or Cc) regardless of shiny seems to result in this, contrary to SS cc being needed for chrome in the parent Ligers. SS cc's effect on Leoblazes is still somewhat unknown with the chrome gene being rare to start, though some wonder about its involvement in the rumors of gold chrome Shield Liger Blox.

Green Leoblaze
WzMi, BlMi
The debate around the strange Genius Wolf mutation keeps this a rarer color.

Funky Variations

Shiny: On Leoblaze, SS produces metal flake, Ss or ss a regular finish.
Hasbro Modifier: May be responsible for some variations in the red of red Leoblazes.
Pink gene: May cause the same possible red variation. Also see Infinity Leo below.

Infinity Leo: The gene that causes pink on Blade Liger Mirage Canon special (pp) appears to cause this mutation when combined with the white of a Zero (resulting in WzW pp). It is advised to either avoid creating white Leoblazes or use the "Hasbro Schneider" Zero variant, whose off white color mutation seems to offset the effect.

Genius Wolf: An odd variant of the green Leoblaze with a canine head. Some suggest it's a proper mutation, others imply things about Minty Blade Ligers and König Wolf. Until this is resolved, green Leoblazes will remain a rarity as most proper mad scientists refuse to risk creating them.

Shield Liger Blox: Somewhat rare second-generation Leoblaze/NJR Shield Liger crosses, the vast majority of these seem to end up the solid blue of their Shield Liger parent. One Mk.II-style example was sighted in the possession of an independent scientist, though the resulting scandal about the possibility of paint leaves most circles doubting that such a cross is viable.
