Saber Tiger
I'd seen this guy at HLJ before they switched it to out-of-production and not given it much thought, until Whiskers pointed it out...and the more I saw of it, the more I liked it. It was a cat, after all. And since Whiskers would want me to say it, ban dead fishies! No, I don't mean Ban's a dead fishie, that'd be just weird...ack...um...never mind.
My first thought upon opening my Saber Tiger's box was that woah, those red parts were a lot darker than I'd expected...they looked a little darker than the Geno Breaker on the box and in most photos I'd seen, but in reality they're what I would call a nice brick red. No complaints here-it's a good color. The Saber Tiger also had fewer pieces than I had expected, and shared some with the Shield Liger, including paws and a few other things.
Having put together a reasonable amount of catlike Zoids, the Saber Tiger didn't give me trouble. The head was easier than the Shield Liger's, and a lot easier than the blasted Blade Liger one. The legs look like they have a lot of pieces, but they don't. However, the right front leg ended up a bit looser than the others, despite my efforts to fix that and careful scraping of excess plastic...go figure.
My Saber Tiger walks in a straight line, slightly faster than my Shield Liger. It was limping on its right front leg, but after taking the guns on the shoulders off (they must have been catching on something) it improved a bit. It still limps, though, despite walking fine otherwise. Saber Tiger doesn't have much in the way of articulation, although the guns and such can be moved around/rotated a little. Other than the feet and jaw/teeth, you don't really see the similarities to Shield Liger unless it's in motion.
Despite the slight limp mine has, Saber Tiger is cool. The black/brick red/silver color scheme works nicely, especially with the added touch of the clear green for the eyes. I don't like the bright yellow on the Zaber Fang as much, although its Holotech cousin looks good. And yet, I still want one of the blinding yellow ones...
