Raynos

Like König Wolf, I got Raynos for Christmas, although I built it a bit later. It came in the same order as my Geno Breaker, so it sat in the basement for a while, first waiting to be wrapped come Christmas time, and then waiting to be opened...and then, waiting to be built. You know, I haven't really said much if anything about the prices of Zoids in my later reviews...so just for the heck of it...Raynos was 800 yen at HLJ. Yay :p.

The first thing you might notice upon opening Raynos' box is that a good many of its parts are green. It's a pretty bright color, a bit teal-ish...although not so much as Saberlion's teal. The rest of it is black and silvery grey, which manages to look good with the green somehow. Mostly black with neon green and silver would've looked nice, imo, but also too Empire-y. Or perhaps Borglike.

Raynos was pretty easy to put together. The head's kind of unique, attaching to the body in a way vaguely reminiscent of Shield/Blade Liger, as Raynos opens and closes its mouth a bit in motion, rather than having a jaw you can move around on your own like most wind-ups. If you've even read about Raynoses...Raynosi?...erm, Raynos...you've probably heard of the molding error that makes one wing sit higher than the other. I fixed it by cutting off a little bit of the part that pushes the wing up at a time until it was level...if you build one, you'll see what I'm talking about.

Unlike Redler, Raynos's wings move up and down just a bit as it walks along. However, its mouth opens and closes a bit too, which is pretty neat, considering it's powering that with nothing but a wind-up motor. It goes a decent distance for a two-legged wind-up, and doesn't go in circles, either. Raynos has a pretty sleek look overall, and the outside pieces of the wings can be moved up and down. It's a nifty smaller flying Zoid, athough with its wingspan and tail, Raynos takes up a lot of shelf space for a Zoid its size.
