Garius

What is it with me and vintage wind-up motors? This makes broken motor two of four...but thanks to Lionel on ZoidFans, I got another motor and could build this poor little guy. It had been sitting half-assembled on an ad for US Zoids DVDs until then.

Being one of the first original "whiteheads", Garius is rather simple-okay, really simple-to build. Not many pieces, nothing complex...but somehow cool. The back fins, especially, are neat.

Together, Garius is smallish-about the height of a Gun Sniper, but upright like Iguan, and much, much lighter. It has an almost skeletal look. And yet...placing it next to Geno Saurer, the first of the *new* designs...they go together. Despite the fact that Geno Saurer's all spiffy and new and huge (relatively speaking), they both say "this is a Zoid."

Garius doesn't seem to walk very far (old motor or I need to fiddle with it, I don't know...), but while it's walking, it has an Iguan-like walk, only slower. The legs sway, moving the arms a bit with them. Nothing fancy, but it does what it sets out to do.

I admit I'm a bit biased towards little original wind-ups, but it's a pity these guys haven't seen a re-release. They're cool.

Okay, okay, and Garius is cute :p. Like Pteras and Glidoler...
