Diloforce (old review)

New review

I have a weakness for translucent things...they're cool. Like the Atomic Purple color for Game Boy Colors, or the blue pieces on a Liger Zero X. And Diloforce looks neat and has those red translucent blades, so I couldn't resist getting one when I saw one on eBay for a decent price.

Diloforce comes in a very small box, with only a few sprues of parts, including one with pretty shiny red translucent bits-one for the eyes and crest, one for the cockpit shield, and three red blade thingies.

Due to there being only a few pieces, very few of which were small and fiddly, assembly was quick and easy. Diloforce only uses two caps, as a matter of fact-one on the shoulder joint for each upper arm.

Diloforce can be posed pretty well for how few pieces it has...the back legs tend to get loose when you move them, but they're easily pushed back on. Add that to how the back feet can move up and down, and it can be posed either standing tall (close to the height of my Gun Sniper) or crouching low, like it's going to fire his cannon or pounce on something. The jaw opens by the head lifting as opposed to the jaw itself moving, which is kind of weird. Diloforce also has a very skinny neck, but the frill-shield thingies mostly cover that up. The blades on the sides of its legs can move up and down, but not in and out. The tail blade puzzles me, as it only moves up a bit, and swinging it the other way doesn't look like it'd be of any use. The cockpit can be removed from Diloforce's back, too.

Like my other poseable/non-motorized Zoids, Diloforce is very expressive...although unlike Saberlion and Glaive Quama who both look more contemplative or something, Diloforce seems to be smiling or baring its teeth. It's a nifty little Zoid, although I still wonder what's with the removable cockpit...
