Blade Liger BI (old review)

New review

Blade Liger - the original edible Zoid! Blue is cheesy, Forest is minty, red salmon, Mirage vanilla, and BI here is oatcake-y.

Blade Liger is one of my favorite Zoids for some reason...while I'm not as fond of the anime one (it's not FINNY enough, Fuzors model aside), the model is all cool and finny and pointy. Like Command Wolf, I am inexorably drawn to recolors of this pointy cat...

The original photos for Bladey BI showed it with silver blades, teeth, and paws, along with black legs. However, the anime one has blue legs (Shield Liger blueblack, not blue blue) and gold blades/teeth/paws. The actual model can't make up its mind which it likes-it's got black legs and silver blades, but gold metal bits. So I swapped out the black legs for a spare Shield Liger's, and the silver blades for a spare gold pair...tada, anime-variant BI.

I don't know how much I'd like the stock one (silver blades just don't *work* with the gold teeth and claws, in my opinion), but I rather like BI how I have it built. The graphite-y colored armor is very fun...about the color of NJR Gojulas fins, but shinier. It's less metallic than other Fuzors Zoids I've built, more sleek plastic than sparkley, which looks better. The black plastic's quality was a bit off, especially on the legs, but it was still workable.

So is Bladey BI worth getting? I'd say yes, if you're a fan of pointy cats or Blade Ligers. If you don't already have one, I still say the blue is the best, but BI here is well worth a look.
