Reviews

Here's all the Zoids I own as of last update. Some of them don't have reviews yet, and most don't have photos yet either. Painfully old reviews are currently not-linked as I work on rewrites, and things are now sorted by era...with thumbnails in progress! Ooer.

New and updated items are highlighted. Now sorted by category!

Old-school (OJR/OER/OAR/Robostrux)

Old-school Zoid reviews

Marketed with the battle story in Japan and a comic in Europe, these are the original lines. Being 80s toys, this means they're complete with nostalgia power, better plastic, and nasty nasty prices on eBay. In general, these are the releases to buy if you want Zoids at their finest in molding quality and don't care about your credit card.

Semi Old-School (Technozoids, Zoids2)

Semi-old-school Zoid reviews

Technozoids saw light in the US and Canada during the 90s, and featured a lot of unique color schemes, from the blinding to the much loved. Zoids2 were European, though there are Asian variants to the line and a few Technozoids with Zoids2 colors. If you know them, it's likely as "those chrome ones with the weird stickers".

New Stuff (NJR, NAR, NER, NPR...)

NJR Zoid reviews

The second heyday of Zoids saw a continued battle story and anime in Japan. The anime hit the US not long after, and with it came Hasbro's line, provider of many unique designs and recolors. They're grouped together here (along with less-successful UK and Pacifc region ports) as there's a lot of overlap between the lines—good luck telling a Japanese and US Liger Zero apart once built!

Fuzors, Genesis, and Unsorted

Fuzors, Genesis, and Non-Battlestory

Many people consider Fuzors and Genesis part of the NJR, but I separate them for story reasons. They featured uniform box designs (Fuzors' were particularly cool) and each Zoid in Fuzors and Genesis carried the same flavor text tailored to tie in with their respective anime series. The rest of this category? Well, it's everything that went nowhere else, like Neo Blox and HMM.

Rebirth Century and Nostalgia

Rebirth Century and nostalgia

The battle story's back. And it's filling in missing bits of old canon...oh dear. Also includes the new Graphics line and nostalgia-powered TDP rereleases for organization's sake.
