Tilly's Ranty Intro to Fuzors and This Site
Fuzors was and always will be the whipping boy of the fandom, be it Japanese or English-speaking. The world was against it from the start, as it opened with-let's face it-crappy animation after /Zero, which featured some of Zoids' best, and featured a Liger Zero in tournament battles, fueling immediate cries of ripoff and sequel.Fuzors was neither, but the American fandom never got to see it pull together. It did horribly, and Cartoon Network cut it off at a very poor point indeed. Episode 13, enter the Energy Liger and one hell of a cliffhanger. Everything was left dangling, a mess of plot threads that needed resolving in fans' eyes. Australia and New Zealand got that resolution with a complete run of the dub, but the concept of "region four PAL only" has made for very little importing of DVDs. Most of the American fandom remains in the dark about Fuzors, judging it only by hearsay and, rarely, summaries and pics pieced together by people at Pheno's.
Japan got the full series, complete with a few animation additions that might have better endeared it here. But it didn't do well there either, to the point where I feared whether it would even see a complete DVD release. But it did, three episodes a DVD style, bleed the fans dry like the also-unpopular /Zero.
Still, I don't think a full airing would have saved Fuzors in the fandom's eyes, only perhaps cut down on the people slamming something they hadn't even seen.
Why?
Because Fuzors was laughing at them.
Beneath the cheese, beneath the dodgy animation, Fuzors is a parody. It's mocking you, it's mocking the fandom, it's mocking itself, and having a good time in the process. How much of it is intentional is up to debate, but if such demented genius was by accident it doesn't make it any less amusing.
Is it perfect? Hell no. But I think the real problem people have with Fuzors is they take everything too damn seriously.
So what will you find here? For now, summaries, screenshots, and a clip or two, straight from Magna Pacific's help-me-I-am-blurry DVDs. Later? Whatever suits my fancy. All of it will be done by someone who actually liked Fuzors, dub and Japanese, not someone throwing info online because it's the next series and it must be covered. I'll do my best not to be hating on any of the other series, too, and I don't character-bash. What fun I poke is silly and up to interpretation, something which I think suits Fuzors just fine.
